Personal Profile - Jacqui De Wet
by Jacqui De Wet
My
own industry experience covers both the SA and UK rave scene;
first joining as a Party Animal
myself in 1992, when techno was the
bloodline of DV8 (Cape Town’s first techno club and inspiration for
<later> rave organisations such as Vortex and Pharcyde).
In 1996, I joined KLPs music
sponsorship division in Soho, London – and was part of the marketing team
which brough Cream to South Africa in 1997.
I also assisted on such projects as The Prodigy’s World Tour, V96 &
V97 and Creamfields ’97.
After
experiencing Ibiza ’99, I was
volted back to my dance roots and now freelance as a clubbing journalist for
various international webzines. The
year 2000 has seen me largin’ it on the White Isle for www.netclubber.com,
glow-sticking at Gatecrasher and brewing up a storm at Godskitchen for www.netraver.org.za and studiously
raving at outdoor festivals like the Oxford MayDay Ball and Homelands for www.e-clubber.co.uk.
My own music collection ranges from psychedelic, experimental, goa and hard-core
trance (Green Nuns, Slinky Wizard, Tyoshi Suzuki), to the more cheesy hard-house
sounds of Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Ferry Corsten and the sexy lure of Fergie.
